Kathina Ceremony 2019

Dear Dhamma Friends,

Katina Ceremony, an Annual presentation of new robes to the monks at the end of three months (July-October) Buddhist Lent, regarded as one of the meritorious events in Buddhist calendar.

Kathina (Robe Offering) Ceremony will take place on Saturday, 9th November at Kansas Meditation Center.

Overnight Pirith Chanting (සර්ව රාත්‍රීක පිරිත් සඥ්ඥායනය) starts at 6pm the evening before Kathina day Friday, 8th and continue until the following morning.

The agenda for the Kathina is as follows:

6:00 pm onwards - Overnight Pirith Chanting (සර්ව රාත්‍රීක පිරිත් සඥ්ඥායනය)
☸️ Saturday 9th ☸️
6.30 am - 8.00 am - Buddha Puja, Heel Dhána
8:00 am - 9:00 am - Gathering and preparation
9.30 am - Kathina parade
10:00 am - Observing precepts and worship
10:15 am - Anusasana (Dhamma discussion)
10:45 am - Pirith Chanting
11:15 am – Kathina Robe Offering
11:20 am - Offerings to Buddha
11:30 am - Offering Dhána to Monks
12.00 noon - Lunch to everyone else
1.30 pm - Dhamma discussion and conclusion
